About the City of Crestview

The city of Crestview was originally founded in 1948 as “Vet Village” by veterans returning from World War II. Among the first residents were William Toner, who became the town’s first mayor, along with Michael Guidugli, Harold Shingshang, Edward Storer, and Robert Munninghoff. These men laid the groundwork for what would soon become a growing community.

Located less than 10 miles (16 km) from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, the small tract of farmland quickly developed into a suburb for these young soldiers and their families. As the community expanded, residents sought a more permanent and representative name. In 1950, they held a naming contest, ultimately selecting the name “Crestview,” which the city has retained ever since.
